Muse - Supermassive Black Hole (Single) - 4/5

MUSE return, after stunning albums 'Showbiz' 'Origin Of Symmetry' and 'Absolution' MUSE take a twist and look to be able to break into the mainstream with influences of Franz Ferdinand said to be in the new album 'Blackholes And Revelations'
'Supermassive Black Hole' is the first single from the album and on first listen i have to admit i leapt for the delete button. It's a totally new feel for the band that bought us such songs as 'New Born' and 'Bliss'. Matt begins by sounding like he's been kicked very hard and unable to drop to his normal begininng octave with an eerily high voice.
Lots of 'ooooh'ing later the song hits the chorus which is chilled to say the least. The only hint of the MUSE we used to know comes towards the end with an fx mic making Matts 'SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE' sound nice and scratchy.
Refusing to give in and delete the song, i made myself listen a further two times and on the third listen i was singing along like a teen at a busted concert. This is definitley a song that grows on you and although it may not be traditional MUSE, give it a chance. It's MUSE breaking into the mainstream and i can see them hitting the charts hard and being on repeat in the clubs with this dance/rock song.
Give it a chance!, i found it being streamed HERE give it a listen and comment
